CAISTOR - Insolvency - Thomas Drayton, Grasby, blacksmith and higgler filed his petition, and obtained an interim order for protection.

BRIGG - PC Crowson, of the police force, has been removed to Grasby and his place filled by PC Curtis, last of Horncastle.

SCHOLASTIC APPOINTMENTS - Mr & Mrs C Winter have been appointed Master and Mistress of the Dixon Memorial Schools, and are to enter upon their duties early in the month of August. Their able management of the Grasby National School for a long period has commanded the frequent and hearty approval of Her Majesty's Inspectors, and the highest confidence is felt in their abilities and fitness for this new and extended field of labour.

LINCOLNSHIRE CHRONICLE January 18th 1861
CAISTOR - Inquest - An inquest was held last Wednesday before George Marris Esq, coroner, touching the death of Mr George Clark, farmer of Grasby Moor, who died very suddenly on Monday evening. The deceased, who was an aged man, had been to spend the evening with a neighbour, and on his return home, made some remark to his wife about the weather and immediately dropped down dead.

LINCOLNSHIRE CHRONICLE January 25th 1861
CAISTOR - Police News - Mr R L Peart who has either to been considered an honest man, was apprehended on Monday last by Police Sergeant Marks, charged with stealing a bag from Mr W Wilkinson, coaldealer. It appears that Peart, who is also a coaldealer, purchased a few bags of coal from Wilkinson, and had kept the bags in his possession, but not with any felonious intent. Wilkinson, who appears to have acted rather hastily in the matter, saw the bags in Pearts possession, and had him apprehended at once. The result had not come to hand when this left.
