GRASBY, a village and parish, 6 miles E. by S. of Brigg,  3 miles N.W. of Caistor, and 2 miles from North Kelsey railway station, is in Caistor union , Caistor county court district, Yarborough wapentake,  Brigg petty sessional division, North Kelsey polling district of North Lincolnshire and Yarborough (No 2) rural deanery of Stow archdeaconry.  Its rateable value is £1814; in 1881 it had 412 inhabitants and 1045 acres of land, partly on the western acclivity of the Wolds.  The Rev. James F. Quirk and Messrs. Hallam Tennyson,  J.J. Burkinshaw and J. West are the principal owners of the soil.  The  CHURCH (All Saints) consists of nave, chancel, north aisle and a tower and spire, containing a clock and four bells, is a neat structure, which was rebuilt in 1868-9, at a cost of upwards of £3400, by the late Rev. Charles Turner.  It  contains 160 sittings, and its East window is filled with beautiful stained glass.  The two new bells, recently placed in the tower, are memorial bells; one in memory of Henry Selwod, Esq., by his three daughters; and the other in rememberance of Mrs Tennyson, the late vicar's mother.  A mural tablet has been lately erected in memory of the late vicar, the Rev. C Turner, and his wife, by his family.  The vicarage is valued in K.B. at £5 17s 8d., and now at £315, having 154A. 3R. 2P. of glebe, partly alloted ar the enclosure, when 62 acres were awarded to the rectory, which was appropriated to Birstall Abbey, in Holderness, by the Earl of
Albemarle, in 1115.  The living is in the gift of Alfred Tennyson, Esq. LLD., poet laureate, and is held by the Rev. J. F. Quirk, M.A.  a handsome vicarage house was built in 1850, at a cost of £1200, partly obtained from Queen Anne's Bounty.  Here is a Wesleyan chapel, byuilt in 1840, and a Primitive Methodist chapel, erected in 1841, and enlarged in 1862.  The parish school, rebuilt in 1855, is attended by about 130 children.  The poor parishioners have a yearly rent-charge of 40s., left by Samuel Faulding, about 1720, out of land now belonging to Mr. Burkinshaw.
