GRASBY, is a village and parish, 6 miles south-east from Brigg, 3 miles north-north-west from Caistor, and 2 miles from the North Kelsey railway station, has 408 souls, and 1045 acres of land, partly on the western acclivity of the Wolds. The Rev. Charles Turner, and Messrs J. J. Burkinshaw and John West, are the principal owners of the soil. The CHURCH (All Saints) consisting of nave, chancel, north aisle and a tower and spire, containing a  clock and four bells, is a neat structure, which was  rebuilt, in 1868-9,  at a cost of upwards of £3400, by the present vicar, the Rev. Charles Turner, who is also patron of the benefice.  It contains 300 sittings, and its east window is filled with beautiful stained glass.  The two new bells, recently placed in the tower, are memorial bells; one of which was put up in memory of Henry Selwood, Esq., by his three daughters; the other in remembrance of Mrs Tennyson, the vicar's mother.  The vicarage is valued in KB at £5. 17. 8d., and now at £230, having 154acres 3 rood 2 perch of glebe, partly allotted at the enclosure, when 62 acres were awarded to the rectory, which was appropriated by Birstall Abbey in Holderness, by the Earl of Albemarle, in 1115.  A handsome vicarage house was built in 1850, at a cost of £1200, partly obtained from Queen Anne's Bounty.  Here is a Wesleyan chapel, built in 1840, and a Primitive Methodist chapel, erected in 1841, and enlarged in 1862.  The parish school, rebuilt in 1855, is attended by about 90 children.  The poor parishioners have a yearly rent-charge of 40s., left by Samuel Faulding, about 1720, out of land now belonging to Mr Burkinshaw.
